Plans, Dreams, and An Adventure

I can't wait for this summer vacation! For some reason, this semester has felt like it's been 2 years long already. Even though we've had multiple breaks, I am absolutely drained from school and need a 3 month long break from this place. Thankfully, I have a lot planned for the summer. I say a lot, but will most likely end up sitting in bed doing nothing for hours. My goal this summer is to NOT do that as much...I'll let you know how that works out for me later.

A super exciting event that will happen this summer is my birthday! It's on July 6th and I will be turning 20 years old. I don't exactly know what I want to do for my birthday, but I have ideas. I always usually celebrate with my family on one day and with my friends another. Last year, I had a big party where all my family members came over and my dad made tacos. I don't think I really want that this year, but I love parties and hanging out so I'd be happy either way. This year, I think I want to dress up in a cute outfit and go out to a nice restaurant, called Bar Italia, with my friends. I also love taking pictures with them, so we might do that in the city. With my family, my dad usually cooks my favorite food and they buy a cake to sing Happy Birthday. I treasure those times, even if we don't do anything crazy.

What I'm most excited about is all of the movies and TV shows coming out this summer. The live action of How To Train Your Dragon comes out on June 13th and I absolutely cannot wait for it! The Superman movie is also coming out on July 11th and you may see little old me if you look closely enough, wink wink. Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty is supposed to air in July and I'm kinda excited but also not at the same time. It's not exactly my cup of tea in both books and TV shows, but I've already watched seasons 1 and 2, might as well finish it off.

Unfortunately, I have to make money this summer. I'll most likely head back to my day job, moving boxes from a container to a pallet for 8 hours. Can't wait. It does pay well and I get to work with my friends, so it really isn't that bad. I did really want to do some theatre or film work over the summer, but I waited too long to send in auditions. Though, I think I will take this time to add more monologues and songs to my book and get started on some self tapes just in case an audition does pop up.

My hometown, Lorain, has this event called Rockin' On The River where they get a ton of cover bands to perform. Every year it's something different with genres/bands ranging from Bruno Mars and Prince to Linkin Park and AC/DC. My favorite band that comes to perform is Queen Nation, a Queen cover band who always do an incredible job. My dad knows one of the guys who runs the whole show, so not only do we get in for free, but we also get VIP wristbands to watch the show from the side of the stage. It's always super fun and the band looks exactly like the real members of Queen. There are other bands I'm looking forward to this summer, but Queen Nation is my number one. There are also festivals and pop up shops that occur around that area that I'll be excited to check out.

Other than my already eventful plans for this summer, I also have set a goal for myself to read at least 10 books by the time I go back to school. My to be read list continues to get longer, so I'm hoping to make somewhat of a dent in it. Besides that, I'll need to memorize my lines for the As You Like It Shakespeare play I'll be in this Fall. I don't need to be fully memorized before rehearsals start, but I want to be as familiar with it as possible. Especially since Shakespeare plays can be hard to understand, I want to have a good grasp of the plot and context before school starts.

Lastly, I'm excited to see my friends and family and just spend some time with them. We have plans to see some baseball games, play volleyball, and hike on some trails so I really can't wait for this semester to be over. I'm going to try to make this summer count as much as possible!
