Life Goes On
Well, Machinal has come to a close and my chaotic life of four hour long rehearsals everyday is no longer. Part of me is sad because I loved the show and my cast/crew, it was a very good group to be with in these past six weeks. However, I will be very glad to get back to my regular routine where I'll actually have time to do something other than rehearsal.
First off, the show went amazing! We had a few bumps in the road like people getting sick (a lot of people getting sick) and some on-stage mishaps, but overall it went flawlessly. This play, albeit dark, has such a powerful story that I was so glad to get to be involved with and get to share with our ONU community. Now that it's over, I will put it on the shelf of all my stage experiences and look on it fondly when I miss it.
Now onto our regularly scheduled programming as a college student. I love having free time because I can focus on myself and the things or hobbies I want to do, but usually cannot because of my involvement in theatre. I have decided to take a break from shows and will just be watching from the audience for the rest of our season. Since all of this time has been freed up for me now, I plan on doing a lot more cooking, working out and reading. The three things I have not been able to do in a long time but genuinely enjoy. I have saved so many recipes on Pinterest and Instagram that I've been dying to try and now I have all the time in the world to do just that! I also have been majorly slacking on my reading. I have yet to finish reading "Reckless" and I plan on starting the Shatter Me series soon, as well as The Fourth Wing that I've been saving for the plane ride to Florida over Spring break. Now that it is getting warmer out, I also would like to start running and playing soccer again. I just got new running shoes that I have yet to break in so I will definitely be doing that soon.
One of the other things I will be glad to do now that the show is over is self-taping for work over the summer. I'd really like to book something and need to film my monologues to submit and audition for theatres. I also want to expand both my monologue and song book for auditions and haven't had the time to do so, but now do!
Overall, I have so many things I'll be able to do now to keep me occupied and hopefully I won't get too bored of not being involved in a show for the rest of the semester.
