Here We Go Again: Second Semester

I just completed my first week back at Ohio Northern University and let's just say, the start of my second semester hasn't been entirely graceful. I'm really glad to be back, but I think I got a little too used to being home and doing literally nothing all day. I've realized after this first week, that I have completely overloaded my schedule and it will probably only get worse. One thing I'm really excited about though is that I started rehearsals for the Spring play we're putting on in February! The only sucky thing about that is I'm in rehearsals from 6pm to 10pm almost everyday of the week (besides Sunday) so finding time to do school work should be super fun...full sarcasm.

An accurate depiction of me after the first week of classes and rehearsals:

I am definitely Type A so my planner is obviously updated with everything going on in my life, which has been super helpful, but doesn't lessen the stress in any way. This one week has felt like four weeks. On the bright side, I'm super excited about the classes I'm taking this semester! I'm taking a directing class, which is a pathway I'm genuinely interested in pursuing after school and my first tap dance class! The year of 2025 is all about discovering hidden passions and focusing on my career for me. Even though there will probably be a LOT of complaining on my end, I'm so excited for this year and where it takes me!

  1. Hey Makalya! I am the same way, I am Type A and my planner is the only thing that helps me stay organized. I think writing down what you have to get done makes it harder to prevent getting behind. I totally get being super busy and missing winter break, I am right there with you. As much as I love performing, I miss having nothing to do and getting back into the school mindset has definitely been tough. Sounds like you have a busy schedule but it seems like you know the best way for you to be successful. I am so excited to see Machinal and I know you will be great in it!!

  2. Hi Makayla! I totally understand the stress. For some reason, I decided to max out my credit hours on top of starting my job, so I've been stressed the past couple of weeks just thinking about the work piling up. It seems like you have a good regiment, though! I could honestly probably take some tips from you, as I tend to struggle with time management. Writing things down has been a good way to keep me on track the first week back. Also, I'm so excited to see the productions this semester; break a leg!
