Calling All Readers, It's Time To Talk Books
In all my nineteen years of living, I have never considered myself an avid reader until just about a year ago when my roommate decided to give me a fantasy book to read called Furyborn. In short, my life was changed. After that, I read that whole series and went on to the trilogies of Caraval, Once Upon A Broken Heart, and Fourth Wing. I think it's pretty clear at this point that my favorite genre is fantasy because let's be honest, who wouldn't want to read about worlds that have magical kingdoms with faerie guards who ride on dragons and an assassin love interest? Okay, maybe not everyone, but I personally love it. I used to only read romance before I got into fantasy, but now looking back at some of the books I've read, they're just so two dimensional and, in my opinion, lack the depth and world building that fantasy excels at. I'm looking at you Icebreaker...if you know you know. I also just prefer when the main character has other goals to achieve other than getting their love interest to like them back. Although, I do enjoy an enemies to lovers slow burn romance in my books, when it's done right.
My collection is still quite small in comparison to most readers', but I am proud of the little book shelf I've started on. I'm positive that within the next couple of months that little book shelf will turn into multiple shelves filled entirely with books.
Since this picture was taken, I've added a few more books and even more cute little figurines, of course. I also can't decide if I want to buy the books I've already read so I can read them again and actually display them or if I want to just buy new books that I haven't read yet. Either way I'll most likely spend a lot of money on more books in the future.
One might say my roommate has created a monster within me because now all my free time is dedicated to reading, talking about books, and/or thinking about books. Although, school, work, productions, and the responsibilities of life have made it a little hard to just sit down and read a book. Right now, I'm working on the second book of the Powerless series and so far I've really enjoyed it! The books at the top of my to be read list are Shatter Me, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and When The Moon Hatched. I've heard amazing things about the first two series, so I am super excited to read those and the third book I'm gonna borrow from my roommate, surprise surprise.
My ultimate goal for this year is to read at least 30 books, which doesn't seem like a lot, but with how little time I have to read I think that's a pretty reasonable goal to have. My second goal is to actually enjoy at least half of those books even though the hope is that I like all of them.

I didn't start getting into the book world until my senior year of high school and lets just say the fantasy worlds I have been able to travel to through the books I have read are amazing. I enjoying being able to sit down and cozy up in my rocking chair and reading and really feeling like I am beside the characters in the book watching it in real life. Some of my favorite books that have read are; Foul Heart Huntsman by Chloe Gong, Shadow and Bone Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo, The Night Country by Melissa Albert, and The Cellar by Natasha Preston. I highly suggest checking these suggested books out.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great way to put it, the immersiveness you get in books is unlike any other feeling. I'll definitely have to check those recs out!
